Canon EOS 5D

Since the beginning of 2007 we own a Canon EOS 5D. This is a digital SRL camera with 12.8 Mega pixels and a full frame sensor. We also own a whole assortment of lenses, flashlights and a tripod. Since we have this camera we don't use our older camera's anymore (Canon eos 10D (6.3 MP logo) and coolpix 995).

Nikon Coolpix 995

Our first camera was the photos with the Nikon Coolpix 995, this is a digital camera with 3.3 Mega pixels. The Nikon Coolpix 995 has a non-protruding zoom lens (4 x optical zoom). You can also use the 4x digital zoom. The reason that Jelger choose this camera is its exceptional macro mode and the possibilities it offers for digiscoping. The fastest Shutter speed of the Nikon Coolpix 995 is: 1/2300.The maximum resolution of the Nikon Coolpix 995 is: 2048 x 1536.

The last addition is the Nikon TC-E 3 ED, this is a 3x teleconverter. Together with the 4x optic zoom of the Coolpix 995 it gives a 12 x optical zoom. This is roughly the same as a 420 mm lens.

Jelger also possesses an EagleEye Opticzooms "Digimount adaptor". With this tool he can connect the Nikon Coolpix 995 to a spotting scoop. As spotting scoop he uses a Swarovski AT HD 80 with a 20-60 x zoom-ocular. Together with the 4 x optical zoom on the Nikon Coolpix 995 he can zoom 60 x 4 = 240 times! He uses this to photograph objects that are far away.
